Geneva: Bains Des Paquis

Day two and it’s a beautiul day in Geneva. I’ve always associated Switzerland with snow capped mountains and warm fireplaces, but I never thought of it as a summer destination. We spent the day by the lake at the Bains Des Paquis. I was extremely overdressed compared to all the beautiful tanning bodies there but somehow still managed to come home with a slight sunburn.

We were told that this is Geneva’s “beach”. Come summer time everyone gathers here and enjoys the water and the beautiful weather. People leave their offices at lunch time to grab a quick dip in the lake or just sunbathe. We dipped our hands in the lake itself and it was still way too cold for us.

Nothing to do with the lake, just the UN Building, no big deal.

  1. I think Europeans have a different ‘summer temperature’ in mind since they are used to cold weather. They feel that 16-20 degrees celsius is summer for them when it feels like winter for most asians and the mid-east (where I currently am). Haha
