London: Somerset House and Ai Wei Wei

Went with a few friends to Somerset House. So far my trip has been blessed with gorgeous weather so it was bound to turn eventually. When we got there it started drizzling, as evidenced by that small discolored light spot above the statues head where a raindrop landed on my lens. But I love the moody sky though, it’s one of my favorite things about this photo. In the courtyard they had fountains everywhere with kids and grownups alike running around playing in the water.

The main reason why we stopped by that day was to see the Ai Wei Wei’s Chinese Zodiac exhibit. At that time, the Chinese artist was still detained in prison and everywhere we went London’s artists were protesting to “Free Ai Wei Wei”. Since then he’s been released but still confined to Beijing. Read more about it here. If you get the chance, I highly recommend that you go see his Sunflower Seed installation at Tate Modern.
