Another hair tutorial! Woot woot.
I did a reverse french braid with a bun (or a braided bun) on Kryz a few days ago. I’ve been wanting to try this out for the longest time but I just can’t do it on myself. Kudos to you if you can manage this with your head upside-down and all! This is such a pretty look for everyday. Wear it when running errands or on a lunch date. Enjoy!
I posted this photo awhile back and got a few requests to make a video how-to. So here goes. My attempt at faking that big ballerina type bun with your shorter hair. ;)
Quick disclaimer, I’m not the best with video (as you will see if you click below) but I try. If you have tips for me, I’d love to hear them!
Leave me a comment if you wanna see more of this type of thing.
In my opinion, the easiest way to instantly add drama to any look is with curls. So Kryz and I decided to make a how to curl your hair video. Not just any curls, big ass diva curls! Think Taylor Swift, Adele, or that hot girl from Lost whose name escapes me. We added a twist at the end of the vid to make it more wearable. I’ll admit I was stuffed with chocolate pralines and sleepy as heck when I made this, but hope you guys like it anyway.
If you’ve been on Pinterest or Tumblr, and if you love pretty hair, chances are you’ve seen this photo. I’ve spent many hours trying to figure out how this was done but I could never find a tutorial for it. To me it looks like a rope/waterfall braid hybrid. Then earlier this week, I tried out the 5 minute hair-do (croissant bun) and it suddenly clicked. I knew how to do it in my head and I suspected that it would look so much better with curly hair. And since I’m lazy and can’t be bothered to curl my hair, I needed a willing victim.
Here is my version of that twisty-tumbly hair-do:
Kryz looking oh-so-girly. If you follow her on Twitter or Instgram than you know she wasn’t always this composed:
8 minutes later…
But finally, success!
I promise, the hair style took less than 30 minutes to create. It just took us awhile to photograph it since my room didn’t have enough light.
So after a quick change in venue we were finally able to grab some photos:
And it’s so simple. Here’s how you get this look:
1. If it’s not already curly, curl your hair.
2. Take a headband, we used Kryz’ stay put elastic headband from Goody, and secure with hair pins about halfway down your head. Or do what I did and have your model hold it in place.
3. Take 1″ sections of hair and wrap it around the headband once, letting the rest of the hair fall.
4. Repeat from ear to ear (we did it from one temple to her bangs).
And that’s it! If you’re having trouble picturing how to warp the hair around the headband check out the video from my croissant bun post.
… a pixie cut.
Doubt my face could take it though :( I need length and layers to hide the blubber haha! But with the summer heat I am seriously tempted to just chop it all off. I think this has been the longest my hair has been and I’m just itching for a change (as usual).
Computer drama update: a family friend is hooking me up with a kick ass new unit. Intel Core 2 Quad, 4gb, 22″ monitor, and many other things that sound really important and comforting to have. Should arrive tomorrow, will post new pics then :)
p.s. photos from childhood flames.
